Why Fewer Worker Grievances Aren't Always Good News
When workers lack confidence that their concerns will be addressed fairly, staying silent can seem safer than speaking up. For this reason, a low number of reported grievances does not necessarily indicate a safe or compliant workplace. In some cases, it may reflect reluctance to use the reporting system rather than an absence of problems.
